Here is a little story of why I was in my local Newspaper earlier this month…

17 years ago, I embarked on a double Arts and Law (BA/LLB) degree at the University of Wollongong and earlier this month I finally graduated!

In celebration, I want to share a bit of my background with you – so let me take you back to the 1990s for a second (wasn’t that such a wonderful time?)

I spent a year at a boarding school in the French Riviera, where I completed the international equivalent of Year 11, but decided to come back to Australia after declining preliminary offers from prestigious Ivy League universities including Harvard, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge.

I then decided to take a break from my degree to study acting before entering into the personal development industry.

I embarked on what I like to call my ‘four year business apprenticeship’ with my Dad and mentor George Faddoul who is a renowned success coach, trainer, best-selling  author “How to Get a Bigger Bite out of Life” and businessman.

This led to the beginning of my QC adventure – In 2005, I launched Quantum Change Seminars and since then I have been recognised and listed in the prestigious BRW Fast 100 growing companies in Australia for the past three consecutive years, which was an outstanding achievement.

QC Seminars have trained thousands of students in the study of Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is known as the Science of Achievement. We recently conducted a series of NLP Seminars across Australia, where in Sydney we had 600 students – a world record achievement!

Late last year I was invited to give an inspirational talk to the senior class of St Marys, and serendipitously this took place in my old law building at the University of Wollongong.

I spoke with my former Sub Dean of Arts Glenn Mitchell, who has not only been a great supporter of my career but one of my most inspirational teachers, and he helped me put the wheels back in motion at the University so I could finish my degree.

I completed a one-month internship with a well respected local law firm where I  assisted with some interesting cases and gained a lot of knowledge that I have now been able to implement into my business.

I decided that 2012 would be the year that I finally complete my University degree, something I always said I would get around to ‘one day’.

I’ve become great at prioritising over the past few months, I’ve completed my degree whilst running my business and I’ve also had the time to pursue another one of my passions, which is singing.

I’ve since hired a vocal coach and I’ve even created my  first demo album, I’ve had a lot of fun singing covers of Adele and I’ve even had a go at writing a few original songs too. It just goes to show it’s never too late too late to follow your dreams.

I hope that my story inspires others to think about what is on their own “I’ll get around to doing that – one day” list.

It’s definitely worth thinking about.

I recently attended the 2011 City of Sydney Business Awards Gala Dinner and it was a great night. As we dined in the beautiful ballroom of the Westin, champagne flowed freely I chatted with fellow finalists and listened while the winners were announced. I was proud to represent Quantum Change Seminars and my fabulous team, we were finalists among some of the best and brightest companies in Sydney. Although we didn’t win, I was delighted to be there on the night and congratulate all the winners. I spoke with Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of Sydney and also Lisa Wilkinson, presenter on Today, Network Nine.

We are gearing up for another couple of busy weeks….we start our Melbourne NLP Scholarship on Thursday 13^th October, with only two weeks to go the countdown is on!

WOW… we have had such a busy few weeks here at QC Seminars!

My fantastic team and I have just finished a really successful series of NLP Scholarship trainings in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney with over 600 graduates! We are well on our way to our target of Scholarship recipients for 2011!

Today is “World No Tobacco Day”.

That’s right, today May 31st is the special day selected by the World Health Organisation (“WHO”) to act as a focal point for their many initiatives to control and reduce the use of tobacco around the world.

The facts are indeed alarming; we are in the midst of a global tobacco epidemic.

WHO estimates that EVERY YEAR almost 6 MILLION people die from tobacco use or exposure to tobacco.

Here in Australia, tobacco use is the single largest cause of preventable death and every year more than 18,000 people die prematurely because of smoking (that’s 50 people a day).

According to survey results approximately 20% of the population are smokers and a MASSIVE 63% of these smokers want to give up their destructive and costly habit.

That’s no surprise when you add up both the financial and health costs that go with being a smoker.

People who try to quit smoking by using traditional methods like gum, patches and will power have a pretty poor success rate (just 7-14%).

Traditional hypnosis has a better record, but then it’s only successful 40% of the time.

I have some really exciting news to share with you all

I’ve recently purchased my very first property in Thirroul! I fell absolutely head over heels in love with my new home as soon as I saw it.

I’ve enjoyed exploring my new suburb… I’ve tried out a few different day spas and cafes around the area and I’ve already treated myself to a new pair of shoes at a local boutique – okay… when I say one pair I mean seven . I just love the laid back life style in Thirroul, which is roughly located in between Wollongong (my hometown) and Sydney.

The March 2011 NLP Practitioner Scholarship series kicked off with a bang at the Gabba on Friday. It’s been a great four days and we are so thankful to all of our Brisbane students (especially those who still attended despite being affected by flash flooding late last week).

The QC Seminars team has made a BIG decision … we’ve decided to get ourselves two office pets and we need YOUR help to NAME OUR FISHIES!

We are searching for two UNIQUE names that will help our little buddies OUTCOOL great fishies like Flounder from the Little Mermaid, Blinky from The Simpsons and Nemo from Finding Nemo.

Our little fishies are orange and white and they behave pretty much like other little fishies do… they eat, swim in circles and once in a while they get spooked and zip around the tank.

Team QC recieved a FANTASTIC surprise today! We’re all going to EGYPT together in December … We’ve all been working so hard to reach our common goal:  to give our NLP Scholarship to 11,000 people in 2011!

TEAM QC are just so DEDICATED I wanted to give them a GIFT to reward them for all of their hard work.

For those of you who don’t know me I must admit I do have a flair for the dramatic… so I built up this surprise for a few weeks (I did offer the team a few mysterious clues, but nobody guessed what the surprise was)! When I finally sat everyone down at our weekly meeting on Friday … I just had to blurt out the happy news straight away.

I squealed, “YOU’RE ALL GOING TO EGYPTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT”

Later my youngest employee (a 23 year old English lad) called it my Oprah moment :)
